    Monique S. BriggsMonique was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. After graduating from Istrouma High School in 1995, she enlisted in the United States Army, where she served 8.5 years on active duty. She returned home to Baton Rouge in 2005 where she has since resided. Monique has two sons (Darius and Prentiss Jr.) and one daughter (Shakeira). In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, singing, making jewelry, traveling, and taking naps, when her schedule permits. While in the military, Monique earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Upper Iowa University. She later went on to earn her Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resource Management (MBA/HRM) from the University of Phoenix in 2013. Monique continues her professional career as a government civilian, currently employed with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as a Financial Management Specialist. She currently has over 27 years of government service. Monique is also a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator in the states of Louisiana, Texas, Michigan, and Mississippi. She has helped numerous families obtain their dream of homeownership since being licensed in 2021. Monique is also the managing broker of Geaux Getta Financial Group, LLC and assists businesses and investors with securing funds to purchase investment property nationwide.Monique can be found volunteering and serving in some capacity with one of the various organizations that she is affiliated with. She is the Treasurer and Board of Directors member for the Blooming Butterflies Maternity Home in Baton Rouge, a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.- Metropolitan Baton Rouge Chapter currently servicing at the Co-Chair of the Economic Empowerment Committee, a member of Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority Inc., a New Member Advisor with the Junior League of Baton Rouge, a member of the Greater Baton Rouge Mortgage Lenders Association, a preferred partner with the Baton Rouge Real Producers, and an affiliate member of the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors.

    SECRETARY

    LaToya Williams, Mother of 2 beautiful daughters. I currently serve as Secretary of Blooming Butterflies Maternity Home. I am an internal auditor for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. I enjoy working with the youth in my church as well as the community. Giving back to others is something I really enjoy doing. In my down time I like reading, listening to music, spending time with family, and cooking for others.

  • Jamie Jenkins

    BOARD MEMBER
    Jamie Jenkins, MS, RSW holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Southern University. She has over 15 years of experience in social services providing support, advocacy, and resources to underserved populations and communities. She currently serves as Program Director of the Therapeutic Foster Care Services at Volunteer of America and is also a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner and an Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Educator. Additionally, Jamie is a licensed Realtor® in the state of Louisiana and finds fulfillment in assisting people with reaching their homeownership goals. Experiencing teen pregnancy herself, Jamie is no stranger to the challenges that come along with being a young parent and understands firsthand how vitally important it is for teen moms to have support during and after pregnancy. Jamie is a dedicated mother who enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, with her friends, journaling by the ocean, and reading books under the sun.

  • Hikita Foster

    BOARD MEMBER

    Hikita Foster, a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies, and a minor in Psychology. She is a teacher in the Special Education Classroom and has been for 3 years. She strives to educate her families by providing resources and support. She also strives to push her students’ past limits to encourage them reach for their set goals. Additionally, Hikita is the owner of Nomad Photography based in Baton Rouge, LA focusing in Family Life photography and creative photography. Hikita is a dedicated mother who enjoys spending time with her family, photography, traveling, spending time with her friends, and being in nature.

  • Simone O Higginbotham

    BOARD MEMBER

    Simone O. Higginbotham is a 52 year old mother of one daughter, grandmother of Harper Florida-Marie, community activist, AmeriCorps Alumni, Domestic Violence Survivor, Entrepreneur, Speaker, Mentor, Network Connector and Social Cultivation Ambassador. Raised by a single mother in one of Baton Rouge's oldest African American neighborhoods, the Zion City Community. Simone is a pillar in the community and has volunteered over 3500+ hours to date with organizations across Baton Rouge. Simone is a self-starter, very determined, hard working, and diligent. A woman who wears a hat of many colors, Simone is the Executive Director of the Scotlandville Community Development Corporation Redesign Schools Louisiana Community Engagement Liaison, Founder of Rebirth Magazine and The Weekend of Legends, LLC. She developed the Rebirth Brand and has made many strides and developed great relationships with other companies, a rapport with her community and now has established colleagues that she has partnered with to not only put her company on the map but unselfishly help others also. In 2015 she released her long awaited memoir Caged By Words- Something Like A Memoir about her journey during her abusive marriage.
